Em completed JVS’s Medical Assistant Certificate program in 2021, and since then she has flourished as a community health worker with Equity Health. A first-generation San Francisco resident from the Philippines, Em has seen the cost of living in the Bay Area become out of reach for many friends and family members over the past 20 years. She credits her training with JVS as part of the reason she’s been able to earn a living wage that keeps her in the Bay Area.
