Julie Barton serves as Director of Grants Strategy at JVS, where she leads institutional fundraising and builds the systems and partnerships that support high-quality grant development across California.
With nearly two decades of nonprofit leadership experience, Julie oversees the grants team and works closely with program, finance, and executive leadership to align funding strategy with JVS’s long-term goals, including regional expansion, employer partnerships, and policy impact.
Prior to joining JVS, Julie held senior development and advisory roles with organizations focused on education and social impact. Through her consulting practice, she has guided nonprofit leaders in fundraising strategy, campaign design, and organizational growth, and has served in Interim Executive Director and Interim Development Director roles. She has served on nonprofit boards including the International Board on Books for Young People and NaNoWriMo. After participating as a San Francisco Fellow in 2015, Julie served on the local Board and National Program Committee for New Leaders Council and facilitated leadership retreats nationwide for seven years. She has also been a participant and mentor with StartingBloc and Leadership San Francisco. Julie holds a BA in English from Boston College and a Ph.D. in Literature.
