Cybersecurity Training

About the Program

JVS is offering a no-cost 21-week Cybersecurity Advancement training for eligible participants looking to advance their IT careers.

This program combines the SANS Institute’s SEC401 Security Essentials program with JVS’s Professional Soft Skills training and Job Search Essentials to help you gain in-demand skills and industry-recognized certification.

Program Details

  • This program is a 21-week training program
  • This is an online training program with self-paced instruction
  • You will receive GSEC certification upon completion of the program

Eligibility

  • Must be a resident of the San Francisco Bay Area.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older and interested in securing meaningful employment with opportunities for economic growth.
  • Must be able to provide a U.S. high school diploma, GED, or equivalency with translation.
  • Should have a demonstrated economic need for the program, such as current unemployment or underemployment.
  • Should have a valid authorization to work in the United States, such as U.S. citizenship, permanent residency, or an employment authorization card.
  • Must have at least 6 months of work experience in a customer service-related role.
  • Must provide proof of Covid-19 vaccination.
  • Must be available and present for the entire duration of the program.

What You’ll Learn

  • Cybersecurity Fundamentals – Core principles to protect organizations from threats
  • Defensible Network Architectures – VLANs, NAC, and Zero Trust Models
  • Identity & Access Management (IAM) – Strong authentication and MFA best practices
  • Vulnerability Management – Practical techniques for risk reduction
  • Threat Detection & Response – Adversary tactics and real world defense strategies
