Programs Offered by IEWorks
IEWorks is dedicated to strengthening the water/wastewater workforce in the Inland Empire. With substantial funding from the US Department of Education and the CA High Road Training Partnership, IEWorks partners with Bay Area-based JVS and BAYWORK to leverage their success and best practices. IEWorks will develop a diverse talent pipeline through apprenticeship, internship and career awareness opportunities.
Program Details
- The IEWorks Internship program is a 24-40 hours/week paid internship at Water/Wastewater agencies in and around the Inland Empire.
- The IEWorks Pre-Apprenticeship program is a no-cost college credit class in partnership with San Bernardino Valley College.
- The IEWorks Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Internship program is a paid 20 hours/week internship at Water/Wastewater agencies in and around the Inland Empire.
Eligibility
- Must be a resident of San Bernardino or Riverside County.
- Must be 18 years of age or older and interested in securing meaningful employment with opportunities for economic growth.
- Must be able to provide a U.S. high school diploma, GED, or equivalency with translation.
- Should have a valid authorization to work in the United States, such as U.S. citizenship, permanent residency, or an employment authorization card.
- Must be available and present for the entire duration of the program.
- Must have a Valid CA driver’s license.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Males must provide proof of selective service registration.
IEWorks Internship Program
- This is a paid internship for 24-40 hours/week at Water/Wastewater Agencies in and around the Inland Empire
- You will receive assistance with transportation and safety equipment costs
- You will have access to post-internship job placement services & referrals to job openings with Inland Empire agencies
- You will be given referrals to local apprenticeship and civil service testing opportunities
IEWorks Pre-Apprenticeship Program
- This is a no-cost college credit class: Introduction to Water Resource Management (3 unit class at San Bernardino Valley College)
- You will earn an OSHA Safety Certification
- You will receive interview prep training, cover letter and resume assistance
- You will enroll in a Contextual Math Test Preparation Class (non-credit)
- You will participate in site tours of potential employment sites at water and wastewater agencies
- You will receiving training in worker-rights awareness and leadership skill development
- You will be given referrals to job openings within the Inland Empire Water District Agencies
- You will receive assistance with transportation, safety equipment costs, and other supportive services based on need
IEWorks Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Internship Program
- This is a paid internship for 20 hours/week at Water/Wastewater Agencies in and around the Inland Empire
- You will receive assistance with transportation, safety equipment costs, and other supportive services based on need
- You will have access to post-internship job placement services and referrals to job openings with Inland Empire agencies
