While working in a career that he knew wasn’t right for him, Shamar decided to return to school and take community college classes in the evening. Through one of the classes, he learned about JVS and our Water/Wastewater Pre-Apprenticeship training program, saw the potential for a lasting career, and decided to apply right away. Shamar used the skills and test prep support that he received from JVS to successfully apply to an in-demand trainee role at East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD), where he is now three years into his apprenticeship as a Water Treatment Plant Operator.
