JVS is proud to honor program alum Abby Morales with the 2026 Envision Alumni Achievement Award, recognizing her perseverance, determination, and inspiring journey into a career in healthcare.

Abby has always been driven by two goals: to build a better, more stable life for herself and her three sons, and to show them what is possible when perseverance meets opportunity. Knowing she wanted to work in the medical field, she enrolled in medical assistant training at Heald College in 2015, but the program shut down before she could receive her certificate. Abby continued working in retail, but she never lost sight of her dream to enter the healthcare field.

That dream came back into reach in 2022 when her cousin told her about the JVS Medical Assistant Certificate program.

Throughout her time in the program, she showed extraordinary perseverance balancing studies, motherhood, and the goal of securing a career with growth and stability, all while recovering from a workplace injury she sustained in the previous year.

Abby received her Medical Assistant Certificate and, after excelling in her clinical internship, was hired full-time at Kaiser Permanente in 2023. Her journey reflects what happens every day at JVS, where talented people gain the skills and support needed to access careers that offer stability, growth, and family-sustaining wages.

Since her initial placement, Abby continues to grow her career at Kaiser Permanente, expanding her skills and pursuing new educational opportunities in the healthcare field.

Her journey is a powerful example of how determination, opportunity, and community support can transform a family’s future. She continues to inspire those around her, and her success reflects the very best of what JVS programs are designed to achieve.
